West Gonja Assembly members receive motorbikes

The West Gonja District Assembly in the newly created Savanna region has presented motorbikes to 19 Assembly Members in the district.

Presenting the motorbikes to them, the District Coordinating Director for West Gonja District Mr. Petro Ankorle on behalf of the District Chief Executive Hon. Saeed Jibril Muhazu said this was a clear demonstration of the Nana Addo – Bawumia government commitment towards strengthening local governance system to speed up socio-economic development.

The bikes are meant to assist them in their movement to better serve their various communities.

He described the role played by assembly members in the local governance as crucial and said every support would be given to them to function more effectively.

Petro Ankorle asked them neither to sell nor handed them over to any other person because they remained the property of the government.

He also drew attention to the need for them to make sure that the bikes were properly maintained.

Receiving the motorbikes on behalf of the Assembly Members, the presiding member for the West Gonja District who doubles as the Assembly member for the Dass/Broto electoral area Hon. Dramani Katribi thanked the assembly for what they have done to help them work effectively.

He praised the DCE for his efforts since his assumption into office towards the procurement of the means of transport for the assembly members.

Mr Katribi did indicate that the issue of the motorbikes is being long overdue but finally on behalf of his colleagues, they are happy adding that, the timely handing over the bikes will go a long way to help them visit their electoral areas, especially during the campaign period.

Some government appointees including the DCE and Member of Parliament for the area were part of the recipients of the motorbikes.
