West Akyem District Assembly installs Internet facility

Asamankese, June 21, GNA - West Akyem District Assembly at Asamankese on Monday launched its Internet facility at a short ceremony. Mr Kwabena Sintim-Aboagye, West Akyem District Chief Executive, who launched the facility, said it would be opened to the public especially students, to broaden their outlook and earn revenue for the assembly. He said the assembly would soon install 40 computers at its newly constructed lounge to be used as an Internet cafe to offer Internet services to the public and assembly members.

Mr Sintim Aboagye said in its efforts to rid the district of filth and prevent indiscriminate defecation, the assembly had decided to improve public places of convenience.

On development projects, he said most projects had been awarded and work had already begun.

These include a three-unit classroom block for Adeiso Islamic School, a town council clinic at Akanteng, Early Childhood Development Centre at Asamankese, transit quarters for drivers of the assembly and construction of a feeder road linking Kofi Asare to Ampofo. Mr Sintim Aboagye said some development projects had been awarded under the Community Based Rural Development programme and the contractors were mobilizing logistics to commence work.

The projects include construction of a three-unit classroom block, a place of convenience each for Kofi Kyere and Akyem Boso and completion of a six-classroom block at Domponiase.

Mr Sintim-Aboagye said some feeder roads had been approved and awarded on contract they were Breman-Takorase, Asibrem-Adiembra and the Abuchenso bridge.

He said negotiations were on-going for approval to rehabilitate the Nyanoa - Abamkrom bridge.
