We need accident free Easter - C/ Supt Eklu

Chief Superintendent David Eklu, the Ashaiman Divisional Police Commander, has appealed to drivers to ensure that the country enjoyed an accident free Easter season.

Chief Supt Eklu, said the increasing rate of road accidents was alarming, and all stakeholders especially drivers must drive defensively to curb the negative trend.

He made the appeal at Ada in the Dangme East District on Wednesday, during a day’s education programme on accident prevention and application of first aid for drivers.

He said six people died while 223 others got injured in accidents at Ashaiman between January and March and three lives were lost and 98 injured in accidents that occurred at Ada during the same period.

He urged prospective voters who were yet to register in the on-going biometric registration exercise to do so but cautioned them against fomenting trouble at the centres.

C/Supt John Yamba, Ada District Commander, said the spate of road accidents in the country had become a national crisis and called on the public to actively involve themselves in the campaign to curb these accidents.**
