"We are still at post" - Akuapem South NPP Executives

Accra, April 8, GNA - The Akuapem South Constituency Executives of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) say they are still at post and that their purported dissolution is a farce and has no basis in the Party's Constitution.

A statement Mr Solomon Amoah, Secretary to the Polling Station Chairmen, signed on Monday said: "In the NPP Constitution nobody has the mandate to dissolve an elected Constituency Executive in the party. Only the Regional Executive of the Party, who consults the National Executive and after all allegations levelled against the affected Constituency Executive is well investigated and they are found guilty.

"The charges levelled against the Akuapem South NPP Executive were baseless and unfounded. We wish to state that no one has the right to put in place any Interim Executive," the statement said, adding; " we do not recognise the so-called self-proclaimed Interim Executive".

A meeting attended by about 400 zonal chairpersons and polling agents of the Party from the Constituency, last month, claimed to have dissolved the Constituency Executive and put in place an Interim Executive headed by Mr John Adjetey Quarshie.

Mr Quarshie said the actions and inactions of the Executives were ample evidence that, they have proven themselves unworthy of managing the affairs of the Party and there was no way the NPP could retain or consolidate its position as the leading party in the Constituency under their leadership. 8 April 08
