Watchman jailed two years for stealing

Nkawkaw (E/R), Dec. 25, GNA- A 59-year-old night watchman at the Nkawkaw Central market had been sentenced to two years' imprisonment in hard labour by a Magistrate's Court at Nkawkaw for stealing a quantity of food items worth 1.688 million cedis belonging to traders at the market.

Kalim Alhassan pleaded not guilty.

The Prosecutor, Police Inspector John Padmore Arthur, told the court that sometime in October, this year, traders at the market complained of high rate of pilfering of food items worth over 1.6 million cedis.

He said when the watchman was searched a quantity of food items identified by the traders as theirs, were found on him.
