The Paramount Chief of the Kwamang Traditional Council (Kwamanghene), Nana Debrah Boateng Bediako, swore allegiance to the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, at the Manhyia Palace on Thursday, October 16, 2025.
Nana Debrah Boateng Bediako took the oath of allegiance during the Asanteman Traditional Council Meeting on Thursday.
The new paramount chief, wielding the Mponponsuo “responsibility” sword, pledged his allegiance to the Asantehene and Asanteman.
“Otumfuo, I swear the ‘Great Oath’ to you. I’m a grandchild of Ntowhene Kywere, a grandson of Otchere-Darko, and I’m Koda Debreh’s grandson. My senior brother is Abenyie Ntow Nyimpah. Otchere-Bediako is also a senior brother. The great service that my forefathers offered you, the war we fought and won for you — that is what I, Debrah Boateng Bediako, am here to continue.
“Asantehene, my lord… if you call me and I don’t come, then I have broken the great oath,” he said in the Twi dialect to cheers from the crowd.
The Asantehene also took the opportunity to advise the new paramount chief, urging him to consult his elders to develop the town.

The king also said that his doors are always open to Nana Boateng Bediako.
“Come to me for clarity with whatever baffles your mind for peace to reign… Don’t let those who supported you regret. Chieftaincy is humility, not pride. I hate arrogance. Be down to earth, and Kwamang will elevate you,” he said.
Otumfuo also warned the new Kwamanghene never to step foot in six places, namely, Sebusu, Deduako, Sabrum, Anose, Abodease, and Atonsu.
“Never set foot in the place where Kumawuhene Sakan fell to his death. He was buried in the same place where he died. He doesn’t know the history, but I will tell him later. Kumawuhene Sakan gave them a place to live. Don’t go there,” he said.
