Wa Municipal Assembly provides 153 boreholes

Wa, Aug. 19, GNA- The Wa Municipal Assembly has from 2001, provided a total of 153 boreholes guinea worm infected areas. In addition, three communities, Busa, Charia and Funsi have almost completed feasibility studies for the provision of small town pipe systems for the people.

Mr Godfrey Bayong Tangu, Wa Municipal Chief Executive said this at a meeting with the Board of Directors of Community Water and Sanitation Agency (CWSA) at Wa.

He said the assembly was also providing eight 10-seater public places of convenience at selected schools in the district at a total cost of 521 million cedis.

He called on beneficiaries of the projects to go through proper land acquisition process to avoid litigations. Madam Cecilia Amoah, Chairman of the Board of Directors of CWSA called on all landlords to provide latrines in their homes to avoid diarrhoea, cholera and dysentery.

She urged everybody to take the hand washing with soap programme seriously to promote personal hygiene. 19 Aug. 04
