Wa Municipal Assembly inaugurates two school blocks

The Wa Municipal Assembly has inaugurated two classroom blocks at Guli and Chegli in the Wa Municipality as part of efforts to improve on classroom infrastructure.

The two blocks werea three-unit classroom block at Guli constructed at a total cost of 193,626.46 Ghana cedis and a six-unit classroom block at Chegli at the cost of 160,000.00 Ghana cedis both with ancillary facilities.

Speaking during two separate ceremonies to inaugurate the buildings, Mr. Issahaku Nuhu Putiaha, the Wa Municipal Chief Executive, said the Guli project was constructed with funds from the District Development Fund (DDF) while that of Chegli was funded by the GETFund.

He said provision of education infrastructure was a key priority for the government and appealed to parents to put the infrastructure to good use by sending all their children to school.

Naa Seidu Braimah, the Chief of Guli and a Member of the Council of State, thanked the Municipal Assembly and the government for their effort to improve education infrastructure.

He advised parents not to glorify their poverty by refusing to send their children to school, adding that any parent who did that was inviting continued poverty upon him or herself.

Naa Seidu Braimah warned young men in the community against impregnating the female students, stating that he would personally report anyone who impregnated a student girl to the police for the person to face the full rigors of the law.
