The West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) is progressing smoothly in the Keta Municipality of the Volta Region with a total of 3,205 candidates from seven Senior High Schools currently sitting for the examination.

The examination centers in the Keta Municipality have been well-prepared in accommodating the candidates with necessary facilities provided to ensure a conducive environment for the candidates.

Mr. Ferdinand Amuzu, the Public Relation Officer (PRO) of Ghana Education Service at Keta, in an interview with the Ghana News Agency, said that the examination was progressing with minimal disruptions.

“Supervisors and invigilators are ensuring that all rules and regulations are adhered to without any malpractices,” he said.

He further noted that all candidates have also expressed confidence in their preparations for the examination and working hard and hope of achieving good results.

He said stakeholders, including parents and teachers, were also supportive and urged the students to remain focused and composed themselves during the examination period.

“Security measures have been put in place to prevent any form of malpractice or disturbance. Security personnel are deployed to the examination centers and they are doing a good job.”

The WASSCE is a critical examination that determined the future prospects of candidates, enabling them to gain admission into tertiary institutions or secure employment.

The examination, which commenced on Tuesday, August 5, at venues such as Aborsco, Ketasco, Afiasec, Ketabusco, Atiasec and Anyasko, has seen various departments taking part in their respective practicals while first core subject, English Language is expected to be written on Wednesday, August 20.

The examination is scheduled end in September, this year.
