Volta Region gets Fire Service Committee

Ho, Nov 14, GNA - The Chairman of the Ghana National Fire Service Council, Lieutenant-Colonel Alex Laatey Ayeh (RTD), on Friday asked Fire Service personnel to expect improved and promising service conditions soon. Lt-Col Ayeh said this at the inauguration of the seven-member Volta Region Fire Service Committee, under the Chairmanship of the Deputy Volta Regional Minister, Mr Kofi Dzamesi.

He said negotiations for risk allowance for personnel has reached an advanced stage and that the Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning would soon give approval for its implementation.

Lt-Col Ayeh said courses would be introduced for all levels of management personnel to ensure smooth progression up the management ladder while a Newsletter and staff durbars would be introduced to promote information flow.

He said 2,200 junior staff have been promoted to various ranks this year and urged the personnel to be supportive of each other in order to win public respect.

Mr Dzamesi said the Regional Committee would help address concerns of the Service and called for the training of more fire volunteers to assist prevent bushfires.

Other members of the Committee are Mr Thomas Hyde, Volta Regional Fire Officer, Mr Vincent Adjato, Regional Co-ordinating Council, Mr Elias Gli of the State-Attorneys Department, Mr Francis Hagan, Ghana Water Company, Mr Clemence Akpeloo, Electricity Company of Ghana and Nana Ogrohwe
