Vodafone Foundation supports community projects

Vodafone Ghana Foundation, a charitable arm of the Vodafone Ghana Business Solutions, has funded seven selected organisations with ideas for social development under its “Bring a Cheer to your Community” project.

The initiative, as part of Vodafone’s Corporate Social Responsibility, is geared towards effecting change in various communities across the country.

It allows organisations and social entrepreneurs to submit proposals on community development projects focused on health, education, children, and entrepreneurship.

Seven out of 40 organisations who sent their proposals were selected.

Ms Angela Mensah-Poku, Head of Vodafone Business Solutions, said the seven successful organisations were selected because they had in their proposals developmental projects relevant to what they were targeting.

“I read through all the seven proposals of these recipients, and they had in them projects focused on health, education, children, and entrepreneurship; exactly what bring a cheer to our communities,” she said.

The seven recipients include Stembees, an SOS Children’s Village in Tema, Divine Mother, at Ayensuano, Digi Tel, in Accra and Kwarteng Ankomah Senior High School at Tanoso.

The rest are the Techiman Municipality, Walk 2 learn, and Akyemansa District Assembly.

Nana Yaa Ofori-Koree, Head of Vodafone Ghana Foundation and Sustainability, said the Foundation would work with the recipients to help them deliver to the people as expected with the funds they had received.

She said the beneficiaries were expected to report regularly to the Foundation to ensure monitoring and evaluation.

“We know that you all have different end dates to all your projects, and you will be measured with that,” she said.

The recipients were given amounts per the budgets proposed for their projects, but not exceeding GH¢50,000.00.
