VSO supports core partners in Northern Region

The Voluntary Services Oversees (VSO), has presented eight motorbikes and nine laptop computers to its core partners operating in the Northern Region to enable them reach out to more than 14,000 needy girls.

The support is under the Tackling Education Needs Inclusively project and funded by the Comic Relief, UK-based grants making organisation as part of the capacity-building support to VSO partners in the country.

Mr Eric Dourinaah, Programmes Manager of VSO who presented the motorbikes to beneficiaries in Tamale at the weekend called on them to work harder to reach the more than 14,000 girls in five districts of the Region to ensure that they enrol and remain in school.

He said VSO would continue to partner stakeholders to fight the imbalance in education especially girls education as well as persons with disabilities.

He said there is also a step-change fund in place to ensure that the programme is sustained after VSO had exited from the communities.

Mr Dourinaah said VSO is working with 11 partners and expressed hope that with the commitment shown by all the partners positive results would be achieved.

Madam Agnes Gandaa, Northern Ghana Programmes Coordinator of the Integrated Social Development Centre a beneficiary on behalf of the others thanked VSO for the continued support.
