V/R CHRAJ disposed of 717 cases as at June

Ho, Nov. 19, GNA- The Volta Regional Office of the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ), has disposed of a total of 717 human rights cases out of 926 complaints brought before it as at June this year.

Mr Joseph Nuertey, Regional Director of the Commission, who disclosed this to the GNA in Ho on Monday said the remaining 209 cases would be dealt with before the end of this year. He said Keta District recorded 215 cases being the highest in the Region with Hohoe District recording 18, the least in the Region. Mr Nuertey noted that child maintenance cases continued to dominate human right problems brought before the Commission and attributed the situation to the ignorance of most parents on human rights laws. He said between 20 to 25 per cent of cases brought before the Commission were child related and a challenge for public education on human rights.
