Upper East Deputy Regional Minister Visits Schools.

Bolgatanga, Sept. 19, GNA - The Deputy Upper East Regional Minister, Mrs. Agnes Chigabatia, has called on District Assemblies and Members of Parliament in the Region to help complete unfinished school projects to provide classroom accommodation for increased enrolments under the September 2007 Education Reforms.

Mrs. Chigabatia made the call during visits to St. Clement's and Afeghera Primary Schools in Bolgatanga on Tuesday to welcome Class One and KG One pupils as part of the "My First Day in School" programme in the Region.

The Deputy Regional Minister pointed out that the school visit should have come on last week, but that it had to be postponed due to the arrival of President J.A Kufuor in the Region for a tour of the flood-hit areas.

At both schools she admonished the pupils numbering over 400, to respect their parents and teachers, as discipline was the only sure way to achieve success in life.

She urged them to come to school regularly and to study hard to realise their dreams in the future. Mrs. Chigabatia later distributed caps, biscuits and soft drinks to the pupils on behalf of the Regional Co-ordinating Council. Among the entourage were officials from the Regional and Municipal Education Offices.
