Upper Dixcove gets new chief

Mr. Stephen Essien, Chief Executive Officer of ESSART Group, an out-door advertising company, was enstooled as the new King of Upper Dixcove in the Ahanta West District, over the weekend under the stool name Nana Duku Esia the Fifth.

His enstoolment followed the death of Nana Hemaa Denkyi, a great woman, who brought a lot of development projects to the area some 12 years ago.

The colourful ceremony was preceded by a procession through the principal streets of the town, before they people converged at the Methodist School park for the Thanks-giving Service, which was attended by the Deputy Western Regional Minister, Alfred Gyan and Captain (rtd) Anthony Cudjoe, MCE of Sekondi Takoradi.

Mr. Gyan commented on the chief’s leadership skills, and entreated the people to co-operate with him in advancing the development of the area, adding, “Team work is the key to sustainable development”.

Nana Esia expressed gratitude to his people, and recounted how the leadership of his family and some opinion leaders called on him four years ago to lead the people of the town.

He pledged that as a chief, he was prepared to work with all and sundry, and called for unity among the community members.

On his vision for the area, he mentioned the re-designing of the area according to the specification of the Town and County Planning Department, as well as constructing a technical school to the area, to develop quality manpower for growth and development.
