University enrolls limited students

The University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR) at Fiapre could enroll 871 fresh students out of 1,400 qualified students due to lack of infrastructure.

The fresh students include 13 matured and three international students, Professor Mrs Esi Awuah, the Vice Chancellor, said at a matriculation ceremony.

She said the University was gradually making strides as the student number continued to increase every academic year and added she was optimistic that on completion of some projects, the University would be able to admit more students next academic year.

The projects include library/ICT complex, lecture halls and Art Laboratory.

Prof Mrs Awuah said the University offered 19 programmes with its student population jumping from 154 in 2012/2013 to 1,585 in the 2014/2015 academic years and commended the government for its continuous financial support.

The Vice Chancellor advised the students to be law abiding and promote personal hygiene to guard against diseases such as cholera.

Prof Mrs Awuah also urged the students to learn hard and avoid examination malpractices as those who might be caught would be sanctioned.
