Unity, peace and harmony are essential for development - Baffour-Awuah

Dwenem(B/A), Aug. 01, GNA - Mr. Ignatius Baffour-Awuah, Brong Ahafo Regional Minister, has observed that unity, peace and harmony among traditional authorities, district assemblies and the people were essential for development.

Addressing a grand durbar of chiefs and people of Awasu Traditional Area at Dwenem, Mr Baffour-Awuah appealed to the people to ensure peace and unity for accelerated socio-economic development of both Jaman South and North districts.

Nana Bofo Bene 1V, Paramount Chief of Awasu Traditional Area appealed to the Brong Ahafo Regional Coordinating Council to assist the people to foster cooperation between the three paramount areas of Drobo, Mpuasu-Japekrom and Awasu.

He noted that the four assembly members at Dwenem were divided based on their political affiliations and that had affected development in the town for sometime now adding the three areas could forge ahead in unity to execute development projects to uplift the image of the two districts.

Mr. Apraku Tanor, Jaman South District Chief Executive, said employment under the youth employment scheme included community policing, agriculture and animal production, nurses and teachers training schemes and health aids.

Mr. Baffour-Awuah who called on Nana Bosea Gyinatwi, Omanhene of Drobo Traditional area at the Krupease Palace at Drobo, expressed concern about the slow pace of work at the Drobo Senior Secondary School, being upgraded.

Nana Bosea Gyinatwi, appealed to Ghanaians to be circumspect in their criticism on the 20 million dollars (about 182.9 billion cedis) being earmarked to celebrate Ghana's Golden Jubilee celebration of Independence next year, because of the immense benefits to the country. Mr Baffour-Awuah visited Kwatoma, Suma and Sampa, all in Jaman North district.

The Chiefs in the area appealed for the rehabilitation of the road linking Babianeha-Drobo to Sampa.
