Unit committee members urged to dissociate with chieftaincy disputes

Tikrom (Ash), Feb. 5, GNA - Mr Joel Marfo Boateng, Assemblyman for Tikrom electoral area in the Ejisu-Juaben District, has cautioned Unit Committee members to dissociate themselves from chieftaincy disputes that had engulfed the area.

He said it was obnoxious for the members to permeate chieftaincy dispute to create rancour and division to ruin the rank and file of the people.

Mr Boateng gave the caution at a forum organised at Tikrom at the weekend to sensitise the people on some government policies and programmes being implemented in the area.

He reminded Unit Committee members of their duties, which were to promote unity, peace and development in the communities. Mr Boateng appealed to the youth in the area to take advantage of the Youth Employment Programme by registering to enable them to gain employment to improve their living conditions.

Nana Agyemang Bio, Adotenhene of Tikrom, called for collaboration between the Assembly member, traditional rulers and the Unit Committee to enable them to forge ahead in unity to bring development to the area. He appealed to the District Assembly to reshape the six-kilometre Adako-Jachie Junction - Asamang feeder road which was in deplorable state to ease the transportation problem facing the people.
