UWR Minister promises an open administration

Tumu, UWR, Aug 14, GNA - Alhaji Issahaque Salia, Upper West Regional Minister , has promised to run an open administration and called for suggestions from professionals to enable him to effectively administer the region.

The Regional Minister said he would work with the people and chiefs to ensure peace for development for the region.

Alhaji Salia said this when he paid a courtesy call on the Paramount Chief of the Tumu Traditional Area, Kuoro Richard Babini Kanton at his palace on Thursday, to introduce himself to the chiefs and people.

He asked the people to support him to implement Government programmes and said "The mistakes of the past must be avoided. We need to turn a new leaf for our own good and the good of our children".

The Kuoro Kanton, assured Alhaji Salia of the support of the chiefs and people of the traditional area.

He appealed to Government to post a medical doctor to the Tumu District Hospital, which had been operating for sometime now without a medical officer.

Kuoro Kanton expressed worry that the people in the area travel to either Wa or Jirapa for medical care.

Lurimuah Kanton, who is also the "Jantina", Landlord of Tumu, appealed to Government to provide the Tumu Traditional Council with an office and to post a magistrate to the area.

He asked Government to rehabilitate the Tumu Dam, which served as a source of water for the people and roads in the district.
