UEW SRC hands over facilities to university authorities

Winneba, April 16, GNA - The Student Representative Council (SRC) of the University of Education, has handed over some facilities it has constructed with its dues from members.

The facilities, costing 290 million cedis, include two pavilions, 42 garden chairs, a giant billboard and gadgets for Radio Windy Bay, the radio station of the university.

Mr. Tsyawo Johnson, Acting President of the SRC who handed over the facilities to the Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ameyaw Asabere, said the SRC would later hand over a bus when documents covering it are ready.

Mr. Johnson said the pavilion at the South campus would be named after the late SRC President, Mr. Kwame Boadi. He said the SRC was finding it difficult to raise funds to complete a SRC hostel it was undertaking and has decided to hand it over to the university to complete it.

Prof Asabere reminded students of the university of their duty to bring up Ghanaians children to be responsible adults and said, "If we fail as teachers we would have failed the nation". He called for cooperation among students and the authorities to ensure good academic work. 16 April 07
