UDS students urged to help the University to grow

Wa, Oct. 19, GNA - President John Agyekum Kufuor on Tuesday asked the pioneer students of the Wa Campus of the University of Development Studies (UDS) to be leaders motivated to help Ghana have leaders that could assist the University to grow.

He said leadership required vision; courage of conviction and the force to back up the conviction to realise the vision.

President Kufuor made the call when addressing the students at Wa on the final day of his three-day tour of the Upper West Region. He also inspected ongoing projects at the Wa Polytechnic and Wa Secondary School.

President Kufuor said the UDS had a great future and would grow to be very big although its beginnings had shown many limitations. "The mark of an intellectual is the ability to observe objectively and decide the way forward," he said.

Professor John Kaburise, Vice-Chancellor of the University for Development Studies, commended the NPP Government for honouring all promises they have made towards the development of the school. "We know you have done a lot and we still have the confidence you will widen your gesture by providing more infrastructure for the University at all the three campuses," he said.
