UCOMS partner SMC University to offer masters and doctorates programmes

University College of Management Studies (UCOMS) has partnered Swiss Management Centre University (SMC) of Switzerland to offer Masters and Doctorates degrees in Business Administration.

The programme, which would be offered online, would provide a platform for UCOMS to join in the promotion e-learning education in the country.

The courses include Human Resource Management, Marketing and Banking and Finance.

In an interview with Ghana News Agency, Dr Henry Fram Akplu, Rector of UCOMS said partnership would help expand UCOMS footprint and provide opportunities for students to have international degrees.

According to him, in Africa e-learning was moving fast in countries such as Kenya and Senegal whiles Ghana as country was far behind in accepting the importance of e-learning.

“We can expect that in the next ten years, there would be huge demand for online education in Ghana”, he said.

“So this is an opportunity which has presented itself to UCOMS to also get on board to promote e-learning education in Ghana”, he added.

Dr Akpalu expressed excitement about the partnership saying “The partnership will enable UCOMS to link up Professors from SMC University and also expose UCOMS internationally since SMC University has a global network”.

He called on SMC University to introduce a Masters programme in Procurement and Supply Chain Management.

Professor Gerald Schwaiger, Director of Business Development of SMC University said the rationale behind the partnership with UCOMS was because UCOMS was a reputable and well established institution which had contributed to training students to fit into the global market.

He said UCOMS was a capable partner and can work effectively to bring programmes of SMC University closer to students who are willing to pursue their education to the greatest height.

He pledged SMC University’s commitment to provide any support to UCOMS to make this partnership successful.
