The woman, Madam Janet Benson, who spoke to the Ghana News Agency at Brofoyedru on Thursday said on April 3, at about 0200 hours she heard the crying of the baby very close to her house and therefore went to see what was happening only to find an abandoned baby girl in front of her door.

Madama Benson said called for the neighbours who came and suggested that they should send the baby to the Queenmother of the town from where reported Police and were given medical forms to attend Swedru government hospital.

She said they have decided to keep the baby and take proper care of her because of financial problems facing some orphanages after going through procedures at the Department of Social Welfare. Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Osei Kwadwo, Agona Swedru Divisional Crime Officer confirmed the story to the GNA and said the police were assisting the women to acquire documents at Social Welfare to enable them to take care of the child.
