Two school blocks inaugurated

Goaso (B/A) Oct. 18 GNA - Alhaji Ishak Abubakar Bonsu, Asunafo North Municipal Chief Executive, has inaugurated two new school blocks at Pomaakrom and Tipokrom in the municipality with an advice to teachers to redouble efforts to help stem falling standard of education in the area. He urged the people to refrain from wasting their resources on funerals so they could adequately invest in the education of their children.

The MCE urged the teachers and pupils of the beneficiary schools to maximize their output to justify the huge investments made by the government in the education sector. The three unit classroom block at Tipokrom for the Local Authority Primary school an office, store, toilet, urinal and staff common room, was estimated at GH¢ 29,000 and financed by the Municipal Assembly through the District Assembly Common Fund. The GH¢ 72,000 six unit classroom block for Pomaakrom Presbyterian Primary school was funded by the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund) under its Schools Under Trees project. The block has a library, office, store and staff common room. Mrs. Elizabeth De Souza, Asunafo North Municipal Director of Education, thanked the government for providing educational infrastructure for schools, especially the basic ones. She appealed to the Parent-Teachers Associations, School Management Committee and Municipal Assembly to maintain the projects to prolong their lifespan.
