Two assemblies support Nkawkaw Police to combat robbery

Mpraeso, Feb. 23, GNA - The Kwahu South and the Afram Plains District Assemblies have jointly presented 25 million cedis to the Nkawkaw Divisional Police Command to help them combat the high rate of armed robberies in the area.

The Kwahu South District donated 15 million cedis while the Afram Plains District Assembly gave ten million cedis towards the construction of six tents at police check points on roads leading to five major market centres in the two districts.

The Nkawkaw Divisional Police Commander Assistant Commissioner of Police, Ms Rose Bio Atinga made this known in an interview with Ghana News Agency at Nkawkaw on Monday.

She said the tents have been erected at vantage police check points to check the activities of suspected armed robbers who attack and rob market women of their money on market days of Kotosu, Ntomem, Simpoa, Ekye Amanfrom, Maame Krobo and Donkorkrom.

The Divisional Commander said part of the money was used to provide the Police personnel manning the tents rations and other logistics and commended the Regional Police Command for assisting them with a motorbike to supplement their operations.

She appealed to the two District Assemblies, individuals, organizations, Churches and NGOs to assist the police with bicycles to enhance their work.

The Kwahu South District Chief Executive, Mr Raymond Osafo Djan when contacted, confirmed that the two district assemblies have released the money to the Divisional Police as their contribution to help them check the rising crime wave in the area.

He appealed to the general public, hotels and guesthouses to give the needed information to the police that would facilitate the combating of crimes in the two districts.
