Training of Area Council members ends at Nkawie

Nkawie (Ash), April 13, GNA - A four-day training workshop for Area Council members and opinion leaders within the Afari Area Council in the Atwima-Nwabiagya district has ended at Nkawie. Topics treated included overview of community-based development projects, decentralization process and district assembly concept, area council, its establishment and roles and the complementary roles and functions of area council members and opinion leaders. Mr Thomas Ofori-Donkor, Atwima-Nwabiagya District Chief Executive, who performed the closing ceremony, said the assembly structures are the pillars of the decentralization process.

He called on them to work hard and with dedication to improve upon the quality of lives of the people in their area.

Mr Ofori-Donkor urged the participants to impart the knowledge acquired during the training to members of their communities. He called on them to intensify educational campaign on environmental cleanliness within their area to avoid the possible outbreak of an epidemic.
