Traders told to transfer their monies to marketing centres

Agona-Swedru (C/R), Sept. 27, GNA - Traders have been advised to transfer their money to banks at the marketing centres instead of carrying it on their persons because of the rampant highway robberies of late. They should patronise the ARB Apex Bank Money Link facility. Mr Phillip Patrick Quartey, Manager of the Agona Swedru Moblisation Centre of the Akyempin Rural Bank, gave the advice at a meeting with leaders of 25 trading groups at the Agona Swedru Central Market to educate them on banking procedures.

The groups included maize; foodstuffs, fish, vegetables, meat and provision dealers.

He said the Bank was ready to give them the necessary training to enable them to function more efficiently by continuously sensitising them on business strategies, bookkeeping, marketing and more importantly on how to deal with financial institutions.

Mr Quartey said the Bank considered such interactions with the traders, particularly those at the micro-level, as one of its social responsibilities and would assist them to promote their businesses. He said the Bank would make sure that the rural banking concept succeeded in the Central Region.

Mr Blaise Ackon-Mensah, another Official of the Bank, told the traders that the rural banking system was principally designed to assist farmers, fishermen and petty traders in the rural communities.
