Traders and hawkers flock Amanfro market

Ngleshie Amanfro (GAR), Feb 24, GNA - A number of traders and hawkers displaced as a result of the decongestion exercise in Accra have been allocated stores, stalls and stands at the Ngleshie Amanfro Market in the Ga West District of the Greater Accra Region.

This was disclosed to the GNA by the Secretary of the Market Management Committee, Pastor Okpoti Annang at Ngleshie Amanfro on Friday.

He said following the decongestion exercise in Accra the Committee invited the displaced traders for allocation at the Amanfro market and maid contact with the executives of some Traders' Association for the same purpose.

The Market Management Committee Secretary said most of the displaced traders were hesitant to go to the Amanfro Market at first but those who did have expressed satisfaction with the facilities and "business" and urged their colleagues to relocate there instead of being "chased all over in Accra".

Pastor Okpoti Annang stated that more than 20 people had reported and taken up stands at the market and started trading. Mr Titus Tokoli Addokitcher, a member of the Committee, appealed to the Ga West District Assembly to provide pipe-borne water and extend electricity to the Market to attract more traders and buyers. He said the Assembly would generate more revenue from the facility if amenities were improved.

Mr Addokitcher appealed to residents of the area to patronise the Market to help improve commercial and economic activities in the area.
