Trade Minister donates to Orphanage

Orphans at the New Life International Children’s Home, at Effutu in the Cape Coast North Constituency, on Easter Monday, were full of smiles when they benefited from donation from the Minister of Trade and Industry.

Dr. Ekwow Spio Garbrah, together with his friends and other associates, donated provisions, including bags of rice, bars of soap, gallons of cooking oil, boxes of biscuit, mineral water, tins of tomatoes, and toiletries, among others, worth 5,000 Ghana Cedis.

He said the donation was his token for the less-privileged in society, such as the orphans, for them to enjoy the Easter celebration, which marked the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Dr. Spio Garbrah indicated that “much as the Easter festivities signified spiritual sanctity by Christians, the physical needs of people such as the under-privileged and the marginalized in society, ought to be taken into consideration as well.”

He urged the management of the home to take good care of the children, and ensure that they benefited from the items provided.

Mr. Derek Fletcher-Gaisie, the Administrator of the Orphanage, on behalf of New Life International, thanked Dr. Spio Garbrah for the gesture, and promised to use the items judiciously for the benefit of the children.

He appealed to other individuals and organisations to emulate the gesture by the Minister, and come to the aid of the unfortunate ones in society.

New Life International Children’s Home, which was founded in 1997, is currently taking care of 29 residential and 157 non-residential children, aged between two and 24 years.
