Tolerance, peace needed in Bawku West - NCCE Dir.

Mr Dominic Abugre, the Bawku West District Director of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), has called for tolerance among the people in the area so as to maintain the peace of the area.

He said intolerance; leading to the violation of fundamental human rights, had several consequences and could lead to lawlessness and deviant behaviors.

Mr Abugre said this at an Inter-Party Dialogue Committee Meeting organised by the NCCE in which four executives were elected to steer the affairs of the Committee.

He said “we must learn to be tolerant and [serve as] role models in all social groupings, so as to teach the young and impressionable ones in society”.

The Director said taking a tolerant stance was sometimes difficult but this could be a powerful tool for cutting the chains of hatred and ensure peaceful co-existence.

He appealed to political party executives to abide by the electoral laws and act lawfully by using legal procedures to resolve political disputes.
