A toddler, a mother and four other individuals have sustained various degrees of injuries in a shooting incident at Obuasi Kwabenakwa in the Ashanti Region.

The incident occurred when a man identified as Kofi Cole fired shots in celebration of a court victory in a chieftaincy dispute.

Information available indicates that the toddler sustained injuries to the leg and is currently in critical condition.

The other victims who sustained injuries have since been treated and discharged.

Some eyewitnesses claimed that the suspect joined the victors in the dispute, who went around the community in rickshaws celebrating their victory.

During the celebration, shots were fired into the air, resulting in the injuries.

The Assemblyman for the Kwabenakwa Electoral Area, Charles Abu, told journalists that the man who fired the shots is known for causing trouble.

“This is the first time I have heard about him firing shots, but he has often caused trouble in the area,” he said.

He further disclosed that the toddler remains on admission due to his critical condition.
