Three-year development programme launched at Amasaman

Amasaman (G/A), Nov. 24, GNA- The Amasaman District in the Greater Accra Region on Monday launched a three -year development under the Rural Enterprises Development Programme. at Amasaman.

The proposed projects include sericultural/silk industry, processing of pepper, chilli, pawpaw, pineapple, cassava, and a factory for the manufacture of garments.

Mr Samuel Nii Aryeetey Attoh the Ga District Chief Executive told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Amasaman at a sensitisation workshop on Rural Enterprises Development Programme (REDP) organised by the District Assembly.

Participants included fishermen, farmers, assembly members, chiefs and opinion leaders

Mr. Aryeetey Attoh said when the proposed industries are established it will create job opportunities for the youth and improve their standard of living.

Mr Padi Adjirackor of the Ministry of Trade said the Rural Enterprises Development Programme (REDP) would be extended to all the 110 District Assemblies in the country and would generate business enterprises in the rural communities.

Mr. Adjirakor appealed to chiefs and landlords of the district to release more lands for the projects, which would generate business enterprises in thel communities.
