Three-member German Catholic delegation to visit Kumasi

Kumasi, May 17, GNA - A three-member delegation from Saint John the Baptist Parish in Meckenhem in Germany is to visit the Saint Paul's Catholic Church at Amakom in Kumasi at the weekend.

The purpose of the visit is to strengthen ties as well as to participate in the celebration of the 20th anniversary of partnership between the two churches.

The German team led by Dr Ernt Schmid would be in Kumasi for two-weeks during which they would areas of mutual partnership. Mr Moses Oduro, Chairman of the Parish Partnership Committee, told the GNA in Kumasi on Wednesday that the Saint Paul's Parish had benefited from a vocational school, a carpentry workshop and an endowment fund from the German Church under their agreement.

He said the assistance had helped the Church to help improve the lives of the youth who have undergone vocational training to earn a living, adding that other parishes had also gained form the construction of Church buildings and manses to facilitate worship.

The Chairman said members of the two parishes under a special programme have exchanged visits to foster unity between them. The delegation would go to tourist sites in the Ashanti Region, during the visit.
