The minister of finance and economic planning, Mr. Yaw Osafo-Maafo, will, on Friday, July 30, this year, be endorsed as the NPP parliamentary candidate for the Oda Constituency in the upcoming elections.
Mr. R.A.K. Ofori, the constituency chairman of the NPP who disclosed this in an interview in Oda said at the close of nomination that Mr. Maafo was the only candidate who had filed his papers to seek re-election on the ticket of the ruling NPP. He said Mr. Osafo-Maafo?s candidature would be endorsed by popular acclamation by the 118 polling station chairman and the constituency executives.
He said nobody challenged Mr. Osafo-Maafo in the NPP primary because of his outstanding performance at the national level as one of the best finance ministers the world over, as well as the MP, having represented the Oda constituency since January 1997. Mr. Ofori stressed that the Oda Constituency in particular and the Birim South district in general had seen much progress since Mr. Osafo-Maafo became the MP for the area and also a minister.
