The road to success hasn't been easy – EIB CEO

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the EIB Network, Nathaniel Kwabena Anokye Adisi, has attributed his success in broadcasting and entrepreneurship to perseverance and persistence.

Speaking at the TEDxAccra summit Saturday, Mr Anokye Adisi, popularly known as Bola Ray told his audience that the road to success has not been an easy one for him.

Currently managing several radio stations including Starr 103.5 FM, Kasapa 102.4 FM and Live 91.9FM, all in Accra, as well as Ultimate 106.9 FM in Kumasi, Agoo 96.9FM in Nkawkaw among a plethora of others across the country, plus the Heritage Newspaper, Mr Adisi, who left Joy FM in 2014 said despite starting from humble beginnings at Radio Universe, he got his “big break” with the multimedia group and took advantage of it to propel himself to greater heights.

He inspired the youth to push on with their dreams and vision despite the hurdles that will come their way.

Using his story as an example, Mr Adisi said he persevered to do his national service with the University of Ghana’s Radio Universe despite a lot of resistance to his attempts to go there.

“I was told in the face that I couldn’t do my national service with a radio station,” he recounted, adding that he would not have had that opportunity had he buckled to resistance and resigned to fate.

He said after getting his big break as host of the drive time programme at Joy FM after joining the multimedia staple in 2003, he did not want to be a mere radio presenter who huddled his CD bag to the studio just to play music, but “I had an end in sight.”

“I set up Empire entertainment from my car boot,” he said, despite skepticism that he could pull it off.

“I’ve grown from a boy to a man, but it hasn’t been easy. It’s a daunting task, but clearly we are also ready for that task…never give up,” he inspired the crowd, adding that it takes confidence, boldness and perseverance to press on from humble beginnings to greatness.

Apart from Bola Ray, Starr FM’s Morning Starr host Kafui Dey also delivered a talk at the TEDxAccra summit.
