A video involving some youths and the Eastern Regional Hospital staff has gone viral on social media after they were seen engaging in a heated altercation.
In the footage shared by GHOne TV on X on November 7, 2025, the youth were captured storming the hospital premises to demand the transfer of the facility’s medical director.
Some of the youth who spoke to the media stated that their main reason for entering the hospital was to deliver an eviction notice to the medical director.
According to them, the medical director, identified as Dr Akoto Ampaw, has refused to vacate the hospital premises despite being transferred to the Volta Region.
“We didn’t go there to fight. Our main motive was to post the transfer notice on the hospital’s boards as directed by our superior, and also on the director’s door.

"After posting the notice, one of the staff (a security personnel) tore it down. That was what triggered the issue. Moreover, he (Dr Akoto Ampaw) has been transferred to Hohoe, and the one in Bolgatanga is supposed to come to Koforidua, but he has refused to go,” one of the youth said.
The youth further explained that the hospital is in a deplorable state, while alleging that Dr Akoto Ampaw is engaging in mismanagement.
“When the transfer notice came, he (Dr Akoto Ampaw) pleaded that the incoming doctor should delay his coming for three months, which has already passed. It’s been five months now, and he is still refusing to go.
"The hospital is in a poor state. If you go to the labour ward, there are no beds. We want to tell him that if he continues to stay, he won’t like what will happen next,” he added.
