Ten students benefited from Hike Hammah Education Trust Fund

Winneba (C/R), Nov. 11, GNA - Ten needy but brilliant students in the Effutu Municipality, have been given scholarship to complete their Senior Secondary school education, under the Mike Hammah (MIHA) Education Trust Fund.

The students, eight boys and two girls, who have just started their Secondary education with the Winneba Senior High School, were the first beneficiaries, since the fund was inaugurated about two months ago. The Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Fund, Alhaji Labaran and Mr Mike Hammah, Minister of Transport and Member of Parliament for Effutu Constituency, jointly presented a cheque totaling GHC 31,000.00 to the Head Mistress of the School, Mrs Cecelia Coffie, at a ceremony held at Winneba on Tuesday.

Mr Hammah said the amount covers the fees and other expenses of the students. He said the NDC government under the leadership of President John Atta Mills, considers education as one of the most important factors for the development of the nation, hence the investment. He urged his constituents to send their children to school to enable them become useful future citizens.

Mr Hammah advised the students to learn hard to reciprocate the huge investment being made in them by the government and their parents. Receiving the cheque on behalf of the children, Mrs Coffie thanked the board and the MP for coming to their aid. She said enrollment of students in the school has increased greatly and appealed to the Minister and the Effutu Municipal Chief Executive, to help the school construct a new assembly hall and additional classroom blocks, to facilitate academic work. Miss Esther Quaye, a beneficiary, on behalf of her colleagues expressed their gratitude to members of the Fund and to Mr Hammah for their kind gesture.
