Ten feeder roads to benefit from project in B/A

Fiapre (B/A), Oct. 12, GNA - Mr Kwadwo Nyamekye-Marfo, Brong-Ahafo Regional Minister, has said the region has is benefitting from the Cocobod Funded Roads Improvement Projects (CFRIP) for 10 selected feeder roads in cocoa growing areas. The Bituminous Surface Dressing project is being undertaken in the fou= r Districts of Asunafo South, Asutifi, Nkoranza South and Sunyani West to facilitate the evacuation of cocoa to storage depots. He said government was determined to improve upon the road networks in the country since it was vital to the accelerated social and economic advancement of the nation. Mr Nyamekye-Marfo said this when speaking at a mini-durbar organised b= y the chiefs and people of Fiapre, in the Sunyani West District to precede a sod-cutting ceremony for work to begin on the five-kilometre Fiapre-Bredi-Boreso road.

The project is scheduled to be completed within 18 months and its bein= g executed by J. Adom Limited, a building and road construction company. He said 23 more feeder roads in the region, have been included in the next phase of cocoa roads project.

Mr Nyamekye-Marfo said government existed for all Ghanaians irrespective of political, tribal and ethnic differences, adding that it wa= s not the policy to discriminate in the distribution of development projects. He appealed to the people to put aside their political differences and support the government whilst disregarding the erroneous impression that political loyalty of the electorate determined where and when the governmen= t carried out development projects.

Mr Nyamekye-Marfo praised the contractor for his track record of executing quality jobs and appealed to the people to support him to complet= e the project on schedule. Mr Kwadwo Osei-Asibey, District Chief Executive for Sunyani West, said the project gave credence to the fact that human resource development was a major policy of the government as it would bring a lot of socio-economic benefits to the people. He said the road apart from its importance to farmers and motorists, would bring a great deal of relief to the staff and students of the Catholi= c University College of Ghana which is located along the route. Nana Opoku Ababio, chief of Fiapre who presided over the function appealed to the students and youth of the area to be encouraged by the location of the university in the town to study hard and make a better life for themselves.
