Tema households to get free litter bins

As part of measures to consolidate the Clean Tema campaign, the Tema Metropolitan Assembly (TMA) would give free litter bins to every household in the Metropolis.

Mr. Isaac Ashai Odamtten, the Tema Metropolitan Chief Executive, made this known when delivering a keynote address at the first synod organized by the Meridian Presbytery, Lorenz Wolf, Tema of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church. Mr. Odamtten said the 50, 000 litter bins would encourage residents to manage domestic waste properly.

He said this would ensure that people do the right thing by putting litter into designated litter bins, and this would to enable TMA to make significant savings to provide and improve infrastructure like schools, clinics and markets to better the lives of the people in the Metropolis.

Mr. Odamtten advised all residents in Tema to pay their monthly refuse fees regularly to enable the assembly manage domestic waste.

He appealed to the clergy in Tema to propagate the “Clean Tema” agenda by educating their members on issues concerning the environment when they mount the pulpit.

Mr. Odamtten said the assembly would open20 police posts to enhance the security in the Metropolis.
