Tema, Jan. 14, GNA - The Tema General Hospital (TGH) on Thursday honoured its staff for meritorious work at a durbar with a call on all health workers to strive to give of their best for quality health care to their clients.
The award winners including retiree medical doctors and nurses received table top refrigerators, television sets and wax prints among others, while the obstetrics/gynaecology ward, which emerged the over all well kept ward had one million cedis.
Dr (Mrs) Charity Sarpong, Medical Superintendent in charge of the hospital, commending the staff for their commitment to duty, asked that they regard themselves as essential body of the health institution and therefore plays a complementary role in its development. She commended them for working within constraints to attend to the sick and advised them against negative tendencies that would mar the image of the hospital.
Dr (Mrs) Sarpong said the hospital is working towards achieving excellence through teamwork and capacity building and urged all to contribute their quota to achieve the aim. Dr Cynthia Kwakye, Tema Municipal Director of Health Service said staff motivation is a policy of the health institution and hoped "it would be a solace to our patriotic health workers, who have decided to stay in the country and serve mother Ghana".
