Tema DVLA collects GH¢ 286,455.50 from January to June

The Tema Office of the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA), has collected GH¢ 286,455.50 as revenue from January to June this year.

Alhaji Iddrisu Huseini, Tema Regional Licensing Officer, who disclosed this to GNA in Tema on Monday, said out of the amount, 1,044,647.72 was generated from registration of vehicles.

He said 13,959 vehicles had been registered, representing 64 per cent, as compared to 8,505 vehicles that were registered during the same period last year.

Alhaji Huseini said the DVLA would collaborate with the Motor Traffic and Transport Unit (MTTU) of the Ghana Police Service to ensure sanity on the roads.

He said the MTTU and DVLA would ensure that all vehicles have retro-reflectors to curb road accidents.

Alhaji Huseini reminded drivers and vehicle owners that the Road Traffic Regulation 43, LI 953 of 1974 makes it mandatory for every vehicle to have reflect and retro-reflectors.

He advised the public to be conscious of activities of ‘Goroboys’, who operate at DVLA officers and issue fake license.

Alhaji Huseini pledged that the DVLA would ensure best practices in its work to promote road safety and environmental sustainability.
