Techiman Municipal Assembly assists Upper West flood victims

Wa, Nov. 9, GNA- The Techiman Municipal Assembly on Thursday presented relief items to the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) for the upkeep of the flood victims in the Upper West region. The items included 30 bags of maize, 30 bundles of used clothes, a bag of gari and one and half bags of cassava. Mr. Bernard Adjei Fordjour, an official at the Manpower and Mobilisation Unit of the Techiman Municipal Assembly, who presented the items said, Brong-Ahafo and Upper West Regions share common boundaries and are each other's keeper.

"We live together as brothers and sisters, do businesses together and also share our fortunes and misfortunes together", he said, adding: "Our token support is to let the people of the region to know that we feel for them".

Mr. Fordjour appealed to other District, Municipal and Metropolitan Assemblies to support the flood victims to reintegrate, especially those who had been displaced.

Madam Winifred Asibi Dy-Yakah, Deputy Upper West Regional Minister, who received the items thanked the people of the Techiman Municipality and the Assembly for the donati on and gave the assurance that the items would benefit the victims. She advised citizens from the region resident in the Brong-Ahafo region to be law abiding and work hard. She appealed to other assemblies to emulate Techiman Municipal Assembly and donate to make life bearable for the displaced families. 09 Nov. 07
