Teachers urged to promote effective teaching

Bechem (B/A), Oct 11, GNA- Mr. Antwi Bosiako, Assistant Director of Supervision of the Ghana Education Service (GES) in Tano District of Brong-Ahafo, has called on teachers in the district to help promote effective teaching.

He was addressing about 120 basic school headteachers at a meeting to appraise schools' performance in last year Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) at Bechem.

Mr. Bosiako advised teachers to prepare their lesson notes, "which are the only records of work for every teacher".

He noted that the current syllabus did not match with text-books in the system so advised teachers to research into text-books from basic one to basic six for efficient notes preparation and delivery. Mrs. Beatrice Acheampong, deputy district director of education in the district expressed concern about the poor performance of some schools in the BECE.

She urged heads to take their supervisory roles seriously to halt the continuous falling standard of education.
