Teachers threaten to leave town ...

unless power is extended to their bungalows

Awutu-Animakobrifa (C/R), Jan. 6, GNA - Teachers at Awutu-Animakobrifa, a suburb of Awutu-Bontrase, have threatened to leave the town if an electrification project being implemented in the town did not cover their bungalows.

According to the aggrieved teachers, their investigations showed that the contractor executing the project had wound up and left Bontrase, awaiting the official inauguration of the project.

The teachers issued the threat when they met the assemblyman for the area, Mr Daniel Asomani at Animakobrifa to discuss their problems.

Mr Asomani said he shared the sentiments of the teachers, but appealed to them to exercise restraint while he put their grievances before the Awutu-Effutu-Senya District Assembly for redress.

He urged the government and the Awutu-Effutu-Senya District Assembly to do all they could to extend the project to the suburb where the teachers live.

Mr Asomani admitted that provision of power to the teachers' bungalow would greatly enhance their work.
