Teacher fights DCE over Contracts

Adams Asuma Okai, a primary school teacher who claims he has connections with the presidency and parading himself as relating to the President, has allegedly threatened to have the president sack the Krachi Nchumuru DCE.

The Republic picked snippets of information indicating that Asuma Okai’s desire to have the DCE, Solomon Kuyon, ousted from office is due to the latter’s inability to sidestep other contractors to award him a Ghana Social Opportunity Project (GSOP) contract.

This Reporter sourced that when Adams Okai went to seek for the support of the Hon DCE, Mr. Kuyon, to be given contract, the DCE brotherly advised him to first register with the district, alongside others who applied for contracts in the district.

After the district’s 3-man evaluation committee had done their work and processed his label ‘A documents for final tendering and contract award, it was detected amongst many other things that Adams Okai has problems with his documentation; besides, he had charged higher than his competitor labeled contractor ‘B’.

But due to unfavorable final tendering report, Asuma Okai was pestering the DCE, Solomon Kuyon, to put aside the report to award him the contract.

He became bitter when the DCE could not meet his demand; hence his moves to use the media to dent the image of the Hon DCE.

This paper further gathered that, the GSOP tender team which supersedes district evaluation committee in Accra made its final selection based on their criteria, and directed that the contract be given to contractor ‘B’ since that would cost the project less.

Devastated Asuma Okai went ahead to threaten to use the media to dent the image of Mr. Solomon Kuyon until the President, John Dramani Mahama, remove him from office.

The Republic Newspaper further gathered that teacher Adams Asuma Okai has also abandoned his post as a teacher at Kpegedei D/A primary school for many months, in his quest to have the Krachi Nchumuru District Chief Executive, Solomon Kuyon sacked from office; meanwhile he continues to receive his monthly salary from GES.

Asuma Okai, formerly die-hard opposition NPP, defected to the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) to enable him get contracts from the party.

This Reporter was further hinted that the extent of unprecedented development so far in the district, and other number of projects rolled out across the country by the John Mahama administration, is a threat to many NPP followers in the area, hence the defection of Adams Asuma Okai to the NDC so he could solicit for contract in the district.
