Cape Coast, Oct 14, GNA- Kwabena Badu, a 23-year-old taxi driver from Ajumako-Abrofoa who drove carelessly and caused harm to a policeman, was on Tuesday granted 20 million cedis bail by a circuit court at Cape Coast.

Badu pleaded not guilty to three counts of careless driving, negligently causing harm, damaging a police motorbike and will re-appear on Friday November 7.

Prosecuting, Police Inspector Joachim Klugah told the court that Detective Constable Frank Tanttre was among policemen detailed to control traffic at Tetsi junction when Vice President Alhaji Aliu Mahama visited Assin Kushea two weeks ago.

He said Badu, driving a taxicab from Assin Andoe towards Abura Dunkwa, overtook a vehicle on the wrong side and in the process knocked down Constable Tanttre.

The policeman sustained a fracture in his left leg and his motorbike that was parked by the road was damaged. He was taken to the Abura Dunkwa Hospital but was later transferred to the police hospital in Accra where he is still on admission.
