The Member of Parliament (MP) for Tarkwa-Nsuaem, Mr George Mireku Duker on Friday presented 3,000 pieces of mathematical sets to the Municipal Education Directorate for distribution to candidates writing this year's Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) in his constituency.

Mr Duker said the presentation was a yearly affair to ensure that candidates had access to basic learning materials required for the examination.

He encouraged the candidates not to panic but rather reflect on what their teachers had taught them and write the examination with confidence.
Mr Duker advised the candidates to take their time and understand the questions clearly before answering them.

"I am happy because with the introduction of the free Senior High School programme I believe the candidates will be able to continue their education, irrespective of the background," he said.

Receiving the items, the Municipal Director of Education, Mr Alex Kwaku Duah, lauded the MP for the contributions he has made over the years in ensuring the academic success of students in his constituency.

He also asked the candidates to eschew examination malpractices to avoid the cancelation of their papers.

A total of 3,295 candidates, comprising 1,726 girls and 1,569 boys would take part in this year's BECE in Tarkwa-Nsuaem.

The candidates would be writing the examination at seven centers across the Municipality.
