The collation of taxi drivers in the three Northern regions have cautioned tricycle operators popularly known as (yellow yellow) to call off encroaching their operational boundaries in the tamale metropolis.

According to the taxi drivers, the tricycle operators operate without insurance, DVLA stickers, number plate, and work without paying any revenue and tax to government.

This practice, they said has caused the region to lose a lot of revenue.

The driver also said majority of the operators are not matured.

“To the best of our knowledge, majority of kids in tamale whom we identify as our future leaders with the ages of twelve to fifteen years supposed to be in classrooms are now the operators of the tricycle. These tricycles have infringed the laws of the country in the road traffic regulations 2012 ( L.I ) 2180 of section 128 as they are being used for commercial purpose"

"We are calling on President Nana Addo and the Regional Minister Salifu Sa-eed to with immediate effect address the issue at hand before we start fighting among ourselves,” they said.

Mr Mccarthy Frimpong, spokesperson of the collation also added that “currently they have encroached into the boundaries of taxi drivers and even at times invade their stations and they are on each others throat where tensions are high. We cannot wait till it escalated before finding solution and measures to it."

He added, "This is a wakeup call to whoever has tamale at heart and wants the region to progress and live to an enviable height should wake up and speaks to condemn some of these barbaric acts of the tricycle operators”

He, therefore, urged that “the outfit which is of higher authority act as loving citizens of the region but not spectators. See to it that physical discipline is restored, where kids will be in school, revenues are paid, overloading is stopped and total disciplines of their activities are observed."
