Tamale residents asked to cooperate with security agencies

Tamale, Jan. 19, GNA - Mr Alexander Asare Adjei, the Tamale Metropolitan Police Commander, has appealed to residents in the area to remain vigilant and cooperate with the security agencies to fight against armed robbery and other social vices.

He reminded the people that the war against armed robbery and other crimes in the country required patriotism and selflessness.

Mr Adjei was speaking at the inauguration of a 30-member watchdog committee of Nyanshegu/Gumah Electoral Area in Tamale at the weekend. Mr Adjei advised committee members be dedicated, honest and disciplined in carrying out their work in order to win the confidence of the people. He gave the promise that the police would support the committee in its work and asked members obey the law and hand over suspects to the security agencies.

Mr Emmanuel Abu Alhassan, coordinator of the committee, gave the assurance that members would assist the security agencies in ensuring peace and security.

He said any member who would violate the rules of the committee would be reported to the police adding, "Our aim is to fight crime and we will not condone crime".

The body has Mr Emmanuel Abu Alhassan as coordinator, Munkaila Fuseini, chairman, Abdulai Alhassan, secretary, Mr Ibrahim Abubakari, organiser and Mr Issahaku Yussif as Treasurer. The committee would help combat crime and to protect individuals and members of non-governmental organisations and other private agencies operating in the metropolis to enable them discharge their duties peacefully.
