Tamale NGO to celebrate 10th anniversary

Tamale, Oct. 27, GNA - The Christian Children's Fund of Canada (CCFC), an international non-governmental organisation operating in the Northern Region, has set aside the first three weeks of November to celebrate its 10th anniversary.

The objective of the anniversary is to showcase CCFC's activities and programmes as well as its 10 years achievements as an NGO in the region.

Madam Sanatu Nantogma, Country Director of the CCFC, said this in a statement she signed and issued in Tamale on Thursday. She said the anniversary would also be used to show to the rest of the country how the NGO was helping to alleviate poverty in the region and developing rural communities.

Madam Nantogma said the CCFC, within its 10 years of operation, had spent about five million dollars on development projects. More than four million dollars would be spent in development projects in the region for the next three years. She said the CCFC had assisted a total of 41,370 individuals including school children, farmer groups and women in its operational areas.

It has supported 96 educational institutions, provided classrooms and teachers' quarters. CCFC has also provided 85 communities particularly in the guinea worm endemic areas with good drinking water. Madam appealed to the people of the region, particularly those in its operational areas, to participate fully in the celebration so that the country would appreciate the development efforts of the CCFC in the Northern Region. 27 Oct 06
